Wanted to know can a private school detain a student at class 11 when he is studding from on the same school since class 7? Can we demand for promting from class 11 to class 12, if the school is not allowing the same?

No, as per my view the student cannot apply for any school as he is detained by the respective school.

Yes absolutely…whether you are in CBSE or ISC, The school never tries to hold the student back in class 11 just because of failing in the last term. In fact they give him or her a chance for retest maybe with some amount like 100 or 200 rupees as fees but they eventually pass them with no worries. The best part about it is that many schools make it a piece of cake for students by framing the retest paper from the original exam paper. They are 90% the same. Exact questions. You will get the report card later but there will be no difference from the student who scored 90 in first attempt and you 80 in second attempt. Failure won't be mentioned there. You will be promoted to 12 eventually but this won't work for 12 obviously so better don't count upon it. Take it as a lesson rather than a trick. Many school have different policies regarding backs but almost all of them follow this norm
