No it is not at all necessary to be a graduate from an honors degree fro appearing in IAS.
You can apply for the IAS even if you’re having 33% marks. Because the eligibilty of being an IAS is that you should be a graduate in any stream form the recognized university of india. Final year graduation students can also apply for the exam.
You should be a citizen of india and your age should be in between 21-30 years of age.
The relaxation is provided for the obc and sc/st candidates.
21-33 years for obc
And 21-35 years of sc/st

No there is no need of an Honours Degree for IAS examination.

You need only a Degree in any discipline from a UGC recognised University. There is no such rule that you must have a Honours Degree.

If you have the required age with Degree then you will be definitely eligible for IAS examination.

Just don’t worry you are definitely eligible. Please ignore if someone says these type of things to you.

Just take care that your age is between 21 to 30 years when you are applying for IAS examination.

There will be age relaxation on the basis of category to which the candidate belongs.

SC/ST – 5 years age relaxation

OBC- 3 years age relaxation

PWD- 10 years age relaxation

To become an IAS officer you must pass CSAT, Mains and personal Interview with merit.

Those who are high on merit will have greater chance of getting selected as an IAS officer.

My friend there is no need to obtain Honors graduation degree to appear for Indian Administrative Service. Any graduation degree will suffice. You can have BA, B.Com, B.Sc, BCA, BBA, B.Tech in any stream to apply for the Indian Administrative Service.

The criteria for Civil Service Examination is graduation degree. There do no worry. Neither you should worry about the percentage because there isn't any criteria for percentage either. If you have completed graduation then feel free to apply for the Indian Administrative Service.

Eligibility

1. You should be citizen of India.

2. Bachelor degree in any stream.

3. There is no percentage criteria.

4. Age limit is 21 to 30 years.

5. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC.

6. Up to 5 years relaxation for SC and ST.

Selection Process

1. Preliminary Exam

2. Main Exam

3. Interview
