i m currently going to give my ty biotechnology exam in march 2009. m planning to do my further studies in msc bio informatics. so do u think that what am going to do is good for my future n doing bioinformatics after my ty biotechnolgy and how is this field bioinformatics or u can u suggest me any other field which would be more better for me. and if bioinformatics then which colleges i can go for preference is more in mumbai

Dont worry dear,you are on the right track of your career path,keep going.

Since,bioinformatics is a complex field which requires good professional,I will advice you to persue that course from one of the following institutes of India.

IIT's :no institute in better then that for m.sc.bioinformatics,admission is based on rank scored in IIT-JAM an entrance for admission to master degree courses at IIT's.For appearing for IIT-JAM you have to score atleast 60% in your bachelor degree.Further details are available at any of IIT's website.

IISC,banglore : admission is through entrance,conduct by institute itself.Same eligibility criteria.Further details from institutes official website-http://www.iisc.ernet.in

Osmania university : admission is through entrance conduct by university itself.Minimum requirement at bachelor degree is 55%.Further details from institutes official website-http://www.osmania.ac.in

yes you can opt for bioinformatics after completion of your biotechnology,because bioinformatics involves integrative or multidisciplinary approach that is inclusive, but not exclusive of computational, mathematical and statistical methods to study, organize, analyze and interpret biological information, at the molecular, genetic and genomic levels.

also you have a wider scope and opportunities in this field,the placement are very good.

as you have doing biotechnology course.......it will be good for you if you go for msc in informatics.....as both the field are comparable.....and it has got a good scope in India as well as abroad......for getting the best course prepare for the best institutes in India-IITs as they provide the best infrastructure and placement.........

after completing your bsc in biotechnology you can go for msc in biotechnology or as per your wish you can go for msc in bio informatics .. bio informatics is wide developing field .. scope in future for bio informatics is good ... so continue your good work dont oscillate
