Minimum Percentage Required to do CPT Course:

There is no particular percentage criteria is required in order to do CPT course. Yes, for this candidates must have passed 12th Class from a recognized university. Here is the basic educational qualification required,

>> Candidate must be eligible to appear in CPT (Common Proficiency Test) if he / she either appeared or passed in the Senior Secondary Examination in 10+2 pattern from a recognized university.

>> Candidates with higher qualifications are also eligible to appear in CPT Examination. Since higher qualification is also allowed, Graduates are also eligible to do CPT Course.

>> Since there is no certain percentage criteria, I am sure you are certainly eligible to do CPT Course.

As such there is no minimum percentage required in class 12 to appear for CPT. The minimum eligibility criteria required to appear for CPT is that the candidate must have passed class 12 or its equivalent from a recognized board of education.

The candidate who has completed his/ her graduation or post graduation degree from a recognized univeristy with an aggregate of 55% marks are exempted to appear for CPT examination. ICAI has introduced direct entry scheme for such candidates.

As per my point of view and knowledge you can appear in Common Proficiency Test after 12th also. Percentage in 12th are not the issue for common proficiency test which is the first stage of chartered accountancy.

There are two groups in the test. You need to score 30% in each group to clear CPT.

Fundamentals of Accountancy
Economics
Mercantile Law
Quantative Aptitude

It is necessary to clear CPT unless you have completed your graduation.
55% for commerce graduates and 60% for others is minimum percentage required.

For CPT you must be 12th passed in any stream with just pass marks. There isn't any percentage criteria for this exam. Therefore, no need to worry and be prepared for the exam.

If you have graduation in commerce with 55% marks or degree in any other stream with 60% marks then no need to appear for CPT.

There is no minimum percentage criteria in 12th to apply for CPT exams, if candidates are going for CPT after 12th.

If candidates are going for CPT after graduation, candidate must have secured more than 55% marks in graduation or post graduation in commerce and for other graduates it is 60%.

No, there are no conditions other than marks you will have to score in your 12th/graduation/PG. You need to score a minimum of 50% in your 12th as well as in the rest of the stages, i.e. graduation or PG course in order to be eligible to pursue CA course and appear for your CPT examination. However B.Com graduates are exempted from CPT exams and directly promoted to the next level.
