NIOS is a very good chance to those students who are unable to continue their study in regular institutions. History is a subject which is an easier subject in comparison to Mathematics and Science. Students who want a degree but are not comfortable with those subjects can take History in their senior secondary level.

Importance of the paper:

Paper of History is an easier subject and students can prepare themselves for this subject very easily. Also, this subject gives a chance to score good marks if the students can memorise the answers and write them accordingly.

Paper Pattern:

Paper of History consists of 2 sections in it and these sections contain different marks. Section A is of 5 questions which are divided into 2-3 questions and each question is with alternative questions. Section B is of 2 long answering type questions and only 1 question is required to be attempted. All the three sections have questions which are equal in marks. The questions that are generally asked in the paper are mainly theoretical type and answers are required to be given in proper word limits.

Questions asked in the paper are such as Harappan Archaeology and its story of being 1st cities, a report of major site by Archaeological, Gupta period, Mauryan economical history and political history, inscriptions of script, decipherment of scripts, Asokan inscriptions, land grant in Gupta period, history of Buddhism, impact of Mughal court, view of people, reconstruction of history through chronicles etc.

Marks and time:

The paper is out of 100 and the total time span allotted to the students to complete the question paper is 3 hours only.
