National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), earlier known as National Open School (NOS), is recognized by the Central Government and by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The certificate issued by the institute, either of secondary or higher secondary level, is accepted by the state as well as central government and therefore, candidates holding a certificate awarded by National Institute of Open Schooling are definitely eligible for government jobs, provided they fulfill other eligibility criteria required for the specific posts and department.
