Patharkandi College of Education came into existence in the year 1995 and the sole inspiration behind the establishment of this college is Late Mr. Qumrul Hoque. The institute has been offering education with affiliation from the Assam University and it is recognized by the National Council of Technical Education.

Right from its inception, the institute has been producing university rank holders in most of the university examinations conducted by the Assam University.

Course Details:

Patharkandi College of Education is offering the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) course and the duration of the course is one year. The college is permitted to admit 60 students per year for the course and the course structure includes four compulsory papers being

• Recent trends and problems of education

• Teacher and pedagogy of Secondary Education

• Psychology of Teaching & Learning

• Education in Emerging Society

The other two papers are elective papers and the candidates can select any two of the following three subjects:

• Environmental Education

• Guidance & counseling Education

• Education Technology

The college collects a fee of Rs.3200 for the course. However, this might vary according to the decision of the management.

Eligibility for admission:

For seeking admission to the Bachelor of Education course offered by the Patharkandi College of Education, candidates must have completed their graduation/post graduation with not less than 45% of marks. A relaxation of 5% of marks is permissible for SC/ST candidates according to the notification issued by the Assam University.

Reservation of seats:

Out of the total 60 seats available in the college for the B. Ed course, 40 seats are filled based on the merit secured by the students in the qualifying examination and interview. The remaining 20 seats are reserved for the management of the college and these seats are filled by the president of the management and life members by following the NCTE norms.

How to apply:

Normally, Patharkandi College of Education, issues application forms during the last week of June every year and candidates will have to submit this duly filled application form along with two passport size photos. The academic session normally begins during the month of July every year.

Library at the college:

The library at the college presently has a collection of more than 5000 books, 1700 reference books, 66 encyclopedias, 151 magazines and 277 journals. In addition, the college regularly received local, regional and national newspapers on a daily basis to keep the student updated.
