Jawaharlal Nehru University has its urban campus located at New Delhi in an area of 1000 acres. Professor Sudhir Kumar Sopory is the Vice Chancellor of the university while Mr. Yash Pal is the Chancellor. The university has an academic staff of total 550 personnel. This education and research university was established in the year 1969 by an act of Parliament. The university was named after the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The university was founded by Indira Gandhi with the aim of having a premier institution for higher learning and also for promoting research and teaching activities.

1. Recruitment of Professor:
Educational Qualification: Candidates should be an eminent scholar with a Doctoral degree in the concerned discipline. Minimum ten years of experience in post graduate teaching or research is also required for the post of Professor.
Pay Scale: Rs. 37400-67000 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 10000.

2. Recruitment of Associate Professor:
Educational Qualification: Candidates should have done Doctoral degree in the concerned discipline. Candidates should have done Master’s degree with atleast 55% marks in aggregate. Minimum eight years of experience in post graduate teaching or research is also required for the post of Associate Professor.
Pay Scale: Rs. 37400-67000 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 9000.

3. Recruitment of Assistant Professor:
Educational Qualification: Candidates should have done Ph.D. degree in the concerned discipline. Candidates should also have done Master’s degree with atleast 55% marks in aggregate. Candidates must also have cleared National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC, CSIR.
Pay Scale: Rs. 15600-39100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 6000.

Selection Process:

The final selection of eligible candidates will be made through the conduct of a Interview Test with Selection Committee. Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview test on the basis of the initial screening of the application form. A Selection Committee will make the final decision of eligible candidates onthe basis of their performance in the interview test that will be held on a specified date. Candidates will be intimated about the date of interview test through the website only.
