St. Joseph’s College was established in the year 1963 on the 1st of December, which is the date of formal inauguration of the college. The college holds the pride of being the first catholic college in the region of Nagaland. The college has been given B grade status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and the college is affiliated to Nagaland University. Prior to the establishment of Nagaland University, the college was affiliated to North Eastern Hill University.

St. Joseph’s College is offering higher secondary education in the faculties of science, commerce and arts and degree courses in the faculty of business administration, commerce and arts. The subjects covered are given below:

Eligibility for admission:

For getting admission to the higher secondary course offered by the college, students must have completed 15 years of age and they must have completed HSLC examination from the board of school education of Nagaland. For higher secondary course in science stream alone, students must have acquired 45% of marks in science and mathematics. For BBA, B. Com (general) & B.A (general), students must have completed their higher secondary examination from the higher education board of Nagaland or any other equivalent qualification is needed. For B. A and B. Com honors courses, students must have acquired a minimum of 45% of marks in the opted subject at the higher secondary level.

Hostels at the college:

St. Joseph’s College has three hostels two for girls and one for boys with a capacity to accommodate 300 students.

For the sake of students, several services like career guidance, mentors, clubs & associations, computer center and student council are functioning in the college.
