Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture was founded as a premier research institute of freshwater aquculture in the country. It comes under the aegis of Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The major objective of the institute is to make the freshwater aquculture of the country globally competitive through eco-friendly fish production system. It is mandatroy for the institute to enhance production efficiencies through the incorporation of the biotechnological tools.
