The National Institute of Open Schooling conducts both, secondary as well as senior secondary examinations. The paper for Indian Culture and heritage is included in the secondary syllabus and is a compulsory paper for the examinees. Including this paper as a part of the syllabus is the Government’s attempt to safeguard the heritage of India.

Qualification for appearing in this exam:

This is an exam conducted at the secondary level and the minimum qualification for the candidates to appear for this exam is to successfully complete their previous classes, undergoing a thorough study in geography, history and civics as this paper applies all three.

Scoring and Negative Marking:

No scope of negative marking is present for the wrong answers; a zero is awarded for the wrong answers. The paper carries a total of 100 marks.

Mode of Exam:

The paper is to be answered in the provided answer sheet, as it is a subjective one.

Format:

The question paper can be answered in various languages throughout the country including English, Hindi and Urdu though it is printed only in English and Hindi. All questions are to be answered including the objective question.

Paper Pattern:

There are 10 objective questions of 10 marks each. The remaining questions carry 4 marks each and all questions are to be answered. No negative marking is done for the wrong answers. The paper is of total 100 marks divided into 30 questions including the first objective question.

Marking:

Marks are not equally divided for the questions. The objective questions carry 1 mark each but remaining carries 2 or 4 marks.

Schedule:

A maximum time of 3 hours is given to the students to complete the paper.
