Kashmir University provides direct second year admission to the eligible diploma holders in Jammu and Kashmir. This type of admission is known as lateral entry admission in which the candidates need to qualify an entrance test comprised of engineering subjects. This university specifies certain eligibility requirements for the candidates who want to write the lateral entry test.

Eligibility for Electronics and Communication Engineering Lateral Entry in Kashmir University

Aspirants who are seeking lateral entry admission to Electronics and Communication Engineering course should have completed Diploma course from a recognized Technical Board. They should have completed their diploma course in Electronics and Communication Engineering or any engineering discipline related to it. Minimum 60% aggregate is required for the concerned diploma course to become eligible for lateral entry admission. There will be an entrance test for the diploma holders so as to get lateral entry admission in Kashmir University. Syllabus of this entrance test will comprise of the subjects specified during the second semester of B.Tech course.

Reservation for Electronics and Communication Engineering Lateral Entry in Kashmir University

Kashmir University provides two self financial seats for the candidates who are seeking lateral entry admission to B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Admission to the self financing seats is based on the marks obtained during the lateral entry entrance test. This university also provides two free seats for the candidates who are applying for lateral entry admission.

Applying for Electronics and Communication Engineering Lateral Entry in Kashmir University

Candidates can send their lateral entry applications through post. A demand draft of Rs.400/-should be taken in the favor of Dean Academic Affairs, University of Kashmir. The concerned demand draft should be payable at Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Hazratbal. The lateral entry application should be sent to the concerned authority with this demand draft and the certificates specified below.

  • Certificate of the concerned diploma course
  • State Subject Certificate
  • Residence certificate signed by Gazetted officer (optional)

It is mandatory that the candidates should provide two passport size photographs along with the lateral entry application. Candidates should ensure that both of these photographs are attested by a Gazetted Officer.

One of the main advantages of lateral entry scheme is that the candidates can skip one year by directly getting into the second year of B.Tech course.
