Yes of course you can enter into the engineering college through the lateral entry by the recently notified (January) new regulations for lateral admission to engineering programs which is as following :-

Lateral Entry Engineering Test(LEET) is a examination through which you can take admission in 2nd year or 3rd semester of BE/B.Tech engineering.

Eligibility:

you can take admission in the BE/BTech programs if:

1:you pass any diploma degree of minimum 3 years after 10th.

or

you pass any diploma degree of minimum 2 years after 12th from any polytechnic institute affiliated with State Board of Technical Education(SBTE) or any University, or recognized by UGC/AICTE with minimum of 60% marks and 55% marks for SC/ST in aggregate or any gradation system

2:you qualify LEET with at least 20% aggregate marks and 15% for SC/ST students

3:you are a citizen of India.

There are 250 colleges and over 90,000 seats all over India where you can take a entry as lateral.

If you are pursing diploma in engineering then you can't appear for AIEEE or IIT-JEE entrance exam. Neither there is any need for you to appear for these exams.

If you want admission in B.Tech then the procedure for you will be different since you are diploma student. AIEEE, IIT-JEE, ISEET entrance exams are for the students who have completed 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

Candidates like you are eligible for lateral entry. What lateral entry means is that you can take admisison directly into the second year for B.Tech course. The B.Tech would be 3 years long course for you instead of four.

The lateral entry admission procedure includes appear for Lateral Entry Engineering Test (LEET). It is conducted in various states across India for lateral admission into the engineering college.

You must have scored minimum of 50 percent marks in diploma to appear for Lateral Entry Engineering Test. Depending on your performance in the LEET exam you will be able to seek admission.

Please remember that LEET does not offer admission into IITs and NITs. In fact these institutes does not offer admission to diploma student. Rest of the colleges do reserve some seats that are offered through LEET.

However not every college accepts LEET, some conducts their own entrance exam.
