The maximum age limit to apply for the NDA Exam, conducted by Union Public Service Commission, is 19 years.
Now, if a candidate has already attained the age of 19 years, he will not be considered eligible for the NDA exam. In order to be eligible, one must have attained the age of 16 years 6 months and must not have completed 19 years at the time of application.

So, at 19 years of age, the candidate will not be considered eligible for the NDA exam but it doesn't means that he can not join the Defense Forces as an Officer anymore.
Candidates willing to join the Defense Forces of India may apply for Combined Defense Service Exam after completion of their graduation. The age limit to apply for the same is 19-24 years for Indian Army, 19-22 years for Indian Navy and 19-23 years for Indian Air Force.
The Combined Defense Service Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission and for further information, you may refer to its official website.

NDA - National Defense Academy


This is an Entrance Examination which is conducted by the UPSC every year in the month of April to select candidates for the Army, Navy and Air Force.


The Basic Eligibility Criteria's to sit for the NDA examination are :-


1. You should be an unmarried Male Indian.

2. Your age should be within 16.5 to 19 years in the year you are applying.

3. You should be a minimum 12th pass from a recognized school or any state board.

4. You should be physically and mentally fit.

5. Also maths and physics are compulsory subjects for the Navy and Air Force.



Thus if you satisfy these, then surely you can apply for the NDA.

This year the applications have been closed and the exam has also taken place on 15th April 2012.


So you cannot apply next year if you get over 19 ears of age.

You should be a citizen of india.

You must be physically fit.

Age criteria 16.5years to 19years.

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible.

Girls are not eligible.

As you are of 19 years and want to apply for NDA(National Defence Academy) then you have to apply in the current year. Next year you can't apply for this because you will then cross the maximum required age.

Eligibility Criteria to apply for NDA:

1. Must be citizen of India.

2. Unmarried Male.

3. 10+2 passed from recognized board.

4. Age Limit: 16.5 years - 19 years.

So, first confirm your age as per the eligibility, then apply for this.

As you have said that you are currently 19 years old and want to give the NDA Exam , then i would like to tell you one thing that you cannot appear in the NDA Exam , this is because the NDA-2012 Exam has already been conducted and the NDA Exam will be held in 2013 as per the below mentioned dates :

a) NDA - I :

Date of Notification : 22.12.2012
Last date for Receipt of Application : 21.01.2013
Date of Commencement of Exam : 07.04.2013

b) NDA - II :

Date of Notification : 04.05.2013
Last date for Receipt of Application : 03.06.2013
Date of Commencement of Exam : 11.08.2013

So , i think if you your aim is to join Indian Defence , then you should complete your graduation first so that you can appear in the Combined Defence Services Examination , which is also conducted twice every year by the Union Public Service Commission.

Sorry to say that you are not applicable for NDA exam because your age is now 19 years old.

NDA stand for National Defence Service Exam.This exam is conduct twice time in a year.This exam is conducted by UPSC.

• Indian Air Force
• Indian Navy
• Indian Army

If you have completed 12th standard from recognized board with science department you are applicable for NDA exam.Commerce student are applicable for only Indian Army branch.

Yes you can apply in N.D.A at the age of 19 year.
You can apply both online and offline.

Generally the nda exam is held once a year.in order to write nda exam you need to write upsc exam.the age limit for writing the nda exam is 16-19 years.the candidate should not cross 19 years before application fill up.
there are other fields we can choose after graduation they are 1.indian army
2.indian defense
3.indian air force

Once you have attaines 19 years of age, you will not be able to give NDA exam.

Eligibility criteria -

12th pass or appearing from a recognised board.

Age should be between 16-5 - 19 years.

Unmarried male candidates only.

So, since you have already crossed the upper age limit , you are not eligible now.

For NDA exam your age should be below 19 years of age then only you will be eligible for NDA exam.
As you have said you are 19 years of age hence you will not be eligible for NDA exam.
For NDA exam the age should be between 16 ½ to 19 years of age .
You should be 10+2 pass also from a recognised board of education.
So as you are not eligible for NDA exam you can apply for any defence only after completing your graduation.
After graduation you can apply for CDS examination. For CDS exam age should be between 19 to 25 years if you are applying for Army.
For Navy age should be between 19 to 22 and for Air force 19 to 23 years through CDS examination.
Other options after 10+2 with physics and maths is SCRA exam conducted by UPSC . If you have done 10+2 with physics and maths then you can apply for SCRA exam. The age should be 17 to 21 years.
