how to prepare gate exam?/...could u please tell me how should the prepartion to be done

Basically GATE as it is all India exam you should prepare carefully.
In question you have not mentioned what's your year presently,,first you should be perfect with all the subjects related to your branch.
If you are not able to get on with the subject when you need to take GATE coaching in various institutions like ACE academy, HYD.
Prepare a time table yourself and follow that in practicing the technical part of the subjects.
In GATE the maths also plays vital role so you have to remember different formulas.
Buy one bit bank of J.B GUPTA(author) for all subjects and practice, analyze and understand each and every concept involved in the question, if any doubts you come across discuss them to your professors or your friends.
Also you should be in touch with the English skills, and also with aptitude(refer R.S AGARWAL-author) as they are also asked in the GATE exam.
With proper preparation you can easily get the good rank in the GATE and can able to get M.tech in IIT's.
