Bathinda District is located in the Indian state of Punjab and the district is spread over an area of 3344 square kilometers. The district of Bathinda is bounded by the state of Haryana on the south, Mansa and Barnala District on the east, Mukatsar district to the west and Faridkot District to the north. The district acts as the leading producer of Cotton in the state of Punjab. The district came into existence in the year 1948 with the formation of Patiala and East Punjab States Union. Engineering College:

Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering & Technology is the first institution in the state of Punjab established with the full-funding of the state government of Punjab in the year 1989 and the foundation stone for the establishment of this university was laid on the 23rd of October 1989 by the Honorable Government of the state of Punjab Sh. S.S. Ray. Initially, the college began its journey as Government Engineering College and was converted as an autonomous institution working under the control of Government of Punjab.
