The current name of the city of Berhampur is Brahmapur and the city is located in the district of Ganjam in the Indian state of Orissa. The city is popularly called as Silk City and it is located at a distance of about 160 kilometers from the state capital Bhubaneswar. MKCG in the name of the college stands for Maharaja Krishna Chandra Medical College, Berhampur and the college began its operations in the year 1961. Shashi Bhushan Rath Government Women’s College is shortly called as SBR Government Women’s College and the college came into existence in the year 1958. The college offers arts, science and commerce courses in different subjects with affiliation from the Berhampur University.

Khallikote Autonomous College as the name implies is an autonomous institution functioning under the control of the Government of Orissa. The college began its journey as a school in the year 1856 and it as was developed as an intermediate colleges in the year 1878. Previous name of this college was Native College and it got its present name in the year 1893. Degree courses in the faculties of arts and science was introduced in the year 1944 with affiliation from Utkal University. Later in the year 1967, the college was brought under the Berhampur University and till then the college was functioning under private ownership. After 1967, the college was taken over by the Government of Orissa.

Polytechnic College:

Government Polytechnic, Berhampur offers diploma courses in subjects like hotel management & catering technology, food technology and computer science & engineering.
