The Institute of Management Studies under Himachal Pradesh University conducted a combined management aptitude test for the selection of the candidates into the MBA programme offered by various institutes in Himachal Pradesh. The Department of Technical Education under Himachal Pradesh University has the responsibility of conducting this test. This exam gives chance for many candidates to take a post graduate degree in Management. So Himachal Pradesh University invites applications from suitable candidates each year.

Structure of HP CMAT

The admission for the Post Graduate Management Programme in Himachal Pradesh University is done mainly on the basis of a written test, group discussion and interview.  The questions of the test are of objective type format. The question paper consists of 200 questions and the time allotted for completing the test will be three hours. The question paper includes questions from four different sections. The test is mainly to evaluate the candidates’ skill in English language, data interpretation, Reasoning and Business Environment. Those who clear the written test will have to attend for a group discussion and interview. The selection of the candidates determines on the basis of his performance in all the three tests.

Syllabus for HP CMAT

The Himachal Pradesh Combined Management Aptitude Test (HP CMAT) is a written test comprises of questions from four different sections. The syllabus for the test is given below.

• Section 1: English Comprehension (50 Questions)
• Section 2: Reasoning (50 Questions)
• Section 3: Business Environment (50 Questions)
• Section 4: Arithmetic Comprehension and Data Interpretation (50 Questions)

Eligibility Criteria

Any candidates who have a graduation degree in any discipline with 50% marks can apply for HP CMAT exam. The candidate should have got the degree from any affiliated University. The SC/ST candidates have to secure 45% marks for their qualifying examination. The candidates should not be more than 26years of age. The SC/ST candidates can apply before they attain 29 years. Final year students can also apply for the test but they have to satisfy all their educational requirements before the time of admission. If they fail to produce any certificates at the time of their admission leads to the cancellation of their chance.

How to Apply?

The application form for HP CMAT exam and the information booklet can be obtained directly from the cash counter of the business schools under Himachal Pradesh University by the cash payment of Rs.500. The SC/ST candidates need to pay Rs.250/-. The interest candidates can purchase the form and bulletin from selected post offices in Himachal Pradesh against the payment of Rs.550/- for the general candidates and Rs.300/- for the SC/ST candidates. The candidates can obtain the form by post by sending a letter and a demand draft of Rs.550/- in the name of Director of Himachal Pradesh University.

How to fill the Form?

The guide lines for filling the application form should be mentioned in the hand book got along with the application form. The candidates need to fill the form with proper care. Any error in form filling leads to the rejection of the form.  The photograph of the candidates should be pated in the place provided for that. The form should be filled by the candidates in their handwriting. The signature of the candidates and their guardian need to be put in the column for that. The details of the fee payment should be mentioned. The application form should not be stapled or folded. No any documents should be stapled with the form. The candidates have to make sure that duly filled form should reach the concerned authority before the due date.

Study Plan

The candidates have to develop a good study plan for win the exam. The candidates get limited time for their preparation. So they have to allocate their time for covering maximum topics. The syllabus for the exam is available from the University website. Candidates have to collect it and divide the large topics into small portions and it helps them to cover the topics more easily.

Try to spend two or three hours regularly for preparing the exam. The candidates need to revise each topic. Self tests will be conducted by the candidates using the previous question papers. It helps them to manage the time needed for completing the exam. Reference test books are available in the website. Collect notes from the test books. Avoid the exam fear and write the exam with confidence. It helps them to win the exam.

Score Validity

The HP CMAT exam score will be valid for one year.
