National Botanical Research Institute is a research institute which comes under Council of Scientific & Research. The institute is mainly responsible for performing research activities in the field of taxonomy and modern biology. Initially, the institute was set up as the National Botanic Gardens. NBG was established by Professor Kailash Nath Kaul. Later on, the National Botanic Gardens was taken over by the CSIR in the year 1953. The institute gots its present name i.e. National Botanical Research Institute in the year 1978. The institute performs research and development activities in the field of modern biology.
