National Institute of Technology, Karnataka offers Summer Internship Programme for students in streams of engineering, science, management, and humanities. B.E/B.Tech/ M.Sc/MBA/M.E/M.Tech students are eligible to apply. Selection of students is done on the basis of their academic performance in University examinations, Projects Executed, Paper Presentations, etc. Selected students are given with stipend of Rs. 100/- on daily basis. Apart from this, they are offered with accommodation in NITK hostels along with food allowance.

Overview of Summer Internship Programme in NITK

The main objective behind summer internship programme in NITK is to generate awareness and interest on academic research among young students. Students under streams of engineering, science, management, and humanities are given internship during summer vacation (June July). A total of 30 internships will be provided. Selected students for internship will help an opportunity to work on research based mini projects under the guidance of NITK faculty members. Students should submit an initial report and detailed technical report on the research problem at different stages of internship. Maximum time allotted for internship completion is 45 days and the minimum time required is 30 days.

Eligibility Criteria for Summer Internship Programme in NITK

Engineering students (B.E/B.Tech), pursuing their third year or sixth semester studies is eligible to apply. Those who are completing the first year or second semester of M.Sc/MBA/M.E/M.Tech courses are also eligible to apply. Selection of eligible candidates is made on the basis of the following aspects.

• Obtained Distinctions/Awards

During selection process, preference will be given for those candidates from institutions, where NITK has a MoU for research activities.

Stipend for Summer Internship Programme in NITK

A stipend of Rs. 100/- is given for each student on daily basis. Apart from this, they are offered with accommodation in NITK hostels and allowance for food. Interns can also access the library and computer lab at NITK.
