Tata Institute of Fundamental Research organizes Ph.D in Chemistry Entrance Exam annually for selecting eligible students for admission into Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry program being offered at the University. This University also provides opportunity for aspirants to do Ph.D in various other programs and separate entrance tests will also be organized to admit students into these courses.

Structure of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Ph.D in Chemistry Entrance Exam

The question paper will consist of two main sections, Section A and Section B. The exam will be an objective model one. There will be twenty questions in section A and each of these questions will be provided with four different choices. The section B includes 8 questions and six different choices will be provided for each of these questions. The time duration for both these sections will be a total of 3 hours. The total marks that will be awarded for both the sections are a maximum of 100 marks. Each question of Section A will carry 3 marks. The maximum marks one can get from this section will be 60. Each question of the section B will carry 5 marks and the total marks of this section will be 40.

Eligibility Criteria

The students who have done Master of Science or Master of Technology degree can apply for Ph.D in Chemistry entrance exam. Engineering degree holders can also apply for this test. Those candidates who will complete their Bachelor of Science degree with good marks can also apply for this test.

How to Apply?

The form for TIFR Ph.D in Chemistry entrance test can be submitted via online method only. Those students who are residing in remote locations can send the application via post as well. In this case, they should send a request for the application to the specified address. They must also keep an envelope of the measurement of 25cm x 17cm. It will also hav and also a stamp of Rs. 20/- along with this request. The students must pay a fee of Rs. 500/- before submitting the application via online method. Those students who will receive the application via postal method should pay a fee of Rs. 550/-. The fee can be paid either via Credit/Debit card or else in the form of Demand Draft. The DD must be in the name of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. This can be accessed from any of the nearest branches of State Bank of India. After remitting this fee, they should send the application such that it reaches before the last date.

How to fill the Form?

The students are advised to fill the form very carefully without making mistakes. They should enter all the details including name, father’s and guardian’s name, date of birth and such personal details in the respective places. The qualification details should be specified correctly. The signature as well as photographs should be placed in the right places. No scribbling and over writings are entertained while filling up the form.

Study Plan

Students who wish to clear this exam with good marks should be ready with a very good study plan at least 3 to 4 months before the exam. Core areas in the test should be given more focus in the study plan. The plan should be such that the students will be able to complete the entire portions at least two days before the exam. The last two days should be spent for revision. Standard text books must be referred so as to get good idea about the whole syllabus covered in the exam. Previous question papers are a good means by which one will get idea regarding the pattern of the questions included in the test. They will also get an idea regarding the repeated and important questions as well. There are numerous coaching centers that will aid these students to compete with others in this exam. They should approach these centers as early as possible if they need support.

Score Validity
