Kochi, which was formerly called as Cochin is an important port city located in west coast of the nation. The city forms part of the Ernakulam district of the state of Kerala and the city is governed by the civic body called Corporation of Cochin, which came into existence in the year 1967.

Higher education in Kochi:

The city acts as the home for the Cochin University of Science and Technology, which is named after the name of the city itself and the university is located in the outskirts of the city of Kochi.
