The IITs make the heart of engineering colleges in India. The Institute has a permanent campus at AP (Andhra Pradesh) at kandi, District Medak. The IITH (which is short for Indian Institute of Hyderabad) is ranked 8th among all the IITs in India. The institute is built on a large 2.2 km square campus area. The institute started in the year 2008 with the major aim to give quality education and research options.

The OFMK or the ordnance factory medak is the temporary campus is located in the range of 45 kms from the core of Hyderabad city.

IITH has currently ten departments including six departments for engineering, Department of library arts and three science depts. IITH offers degrees in engineering, post graduation and research areas. It offers B. Tech. (Bachelor of Technology) in Computer Science (CSE), Electronics and Mechanical engineering. It offers M. Tech.which was started in august 2009 in Material science, civil engineering, CSE, Design engineering, Microelectronic and VLSI, Thermofluid engineering, Chemical engineering and Communication & Signal Processing. Apart from this, it offers Master of sciences in Chemistry, Physics & Mathematics which was recently started in 2010, and PHDs in all the areas.

The IITH has been celebrating its Technical cum cultural fest “ELAN” since 2009. This helps in students all round development. Apart from these the IITH gives a Hostel facility with very comfortable rooms and Internet facility is available 24 X 7. At IITH there are Labs and workshops, and a large library which accommodates latest books.

The Admission to IITH is done through the common entrance exam the IITJEE, for B. Tech. courses. The exam is conducted every year in the month of April. The candidates who have secured more than 60% marks in the 12th or equivalent examination are eligible to take the Joint Entrance examination (IITJEE).
