Basaveswara Medical College and Hospital was established by S.J.M. Vidyapeetha and the college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences located at Bangalore. S.J.M. Vidyapeetha’s vision is to establish educational institutions to offer value-based and need-based education to the students so that they are converted into dedicated world-class leaders.

Courses Offered:

The college is offering MBBS course and the duration of the course is four and half years. Every year the college is admitting 100 students. The four-and-half years are followed by one-year of compulsory internship and these four-and-half years are divided into three phases. In the first phase of education, pre-clinical subjects are covered and the second phase is for para-clinical and clinical subjects. The final phase constitutes Ophthalmology, ENT and Medicine. The college is also offering other courses like pharmacy, nursing and BDS.

Admission:

Of the total number of 100 seats, the college fills 40 seats based on the performance of the students in Common Entrance Examination conducted by the university. Another 40 seats are filled on the basis of marks secured by the students in entrance examination conducted by Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka and remaining 20 seats are management-quota seats.

Eligibility Requirement:

The candidates must have completed two-year PU examination or 10+2 with biology, chemistry and physics and English as language with a minimum aggregate of 50% in biology, chemistry and physics together. The qualifying mark is 40% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories like SC/ST. Candidates belonging to general category should also have secured 50% of marks in entrance examination and this percentage is also 40 for reserved category students.

Facilities:

Basaveswara Medical College and Hospital is offering several facilities like transportation, playground, hostel, library and information centre to the students. The hospital attached to the college has a bed capacity of 500 and it is also provided with the required infrastructure.
