St. John’s College of Physical Education, Veeravanallur
St. John’s College of Physical Education is run by St. John’s Educational Trust located at Veeravanallur and the college is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University located at Chennai. The college started to function from the year 2007.
Location and campus:
St. John’s College of Physical Education is located on the Veeravanallur to Thirupudaimaruthur Road. The campus of the college is about one-and-half meters away from Veervanallur Railway Station and 800 meters away from Veeravanallur Bus Stand and the college campus is spread over an area of 37 acres, which is inclusive of playground and building.
Course Offered:
Right from the name of the college it is clear that the college is offering Bachelor of Physical Education and the course is approved by National Council for Teacher Education.
Eligibility requirement:
For admission to the B.P. Ed course offered by the college, candidate must be a graduate in any discipline with not less than 45% of marks and he/she should also have represented the national or state or district or university level competitions in any of the athletic events or games. The candidate should secure a minimum of 50% of marks in the selection test conducted by the college and should submit a physical fitness certificate provided by a government doctor.
Admission procedure:
As mentioned earlier the candidate must get through the selection test conducted by the college for getting admission. The selection test is conducted for a total of 150 marks of which 50 marks is allotted for games skill test, 50 for field and track test, 25 for degree examination marks, 20 for games and sports participation certificate and 5 bonus marks for candidates holding bachelor of science degree in physical education or BPES. The candidates should also undergo a physical efficiency test.
