NIMS stands for National Institute of Medical Sciences and the university is located in the city of Jaipur in Rajasthan. It is one among the few technical universities in India and it offering courses under human sciences, nursing, engineering, business management, pharmacy, dentistry and medicine. The university started to function as the institute of Medical sciences and it was upgraded to the status of University in the year 2008. This clearly indicates the volume of sacrifice, devotion and dedication shown by its higher management to improve the status of the institution. The university is preparing students for the lifelong study and practice in the field of medicine and its allied fields, technology and management in private and public sectors. The university is planning to motivate research in the fields of preventive medicine and health care, specifically in pharma- co-viglilance medical errors, treatment of community diseases in the state of Rajasthan. The university has acquired several international awards like commonwealth medical fellowship for the year 1988, World Health Organization Fellowship for the year 1983 and an award from International Society for Pediatric-Gastroenterology & nutrition for excellent contribution to the field of nutrition, herpetology and pediatric gastroenterology. Apart from these international awards, the university has acquired several national awards as well for its excellent contribution to the Pediatric Gastroenterology.
