North Eastern Railway was established in the year 1952 on the 14th of April and it was separated into two different Railway zones in the year 1958 and it was restructured in the year 2002. At present it has three groups at Lucknow, Varanasi and Izatnagar. The basic serving areas of this organization is UP, Western district of Bihar and Uttarkhand. The company has the pride of using the computerized passenger reservation for the first time in the year 1986. With the advancement of technology, different advanced methods are used by the organization.

Eligibility:

Age Criteria (as on 01.01.2011):

For candidates falling under Unreserved category the age criteria is 33 years plus years of service in military plus three years.

For candidates falling under Scheduled caste/scheduled tribe category the age criteria is 38 years plus years of service in military plus three years.

For candidates falling under other backward category the age criteria is 36 years plus years of service in military plus three years.

Qualification:

Ex-Serviceman who has retired after 15 years of service.

Must have passed Army class-1 certificate or equivalent.

Selection Process:

Selection for the post is based on merit, experience and verification of original documents. No written examination/interview or physical efficiency test. Candidates becoming eligible will be invited for examination of original documents.
