Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is stared with an aim to universalize elementary education by community-ownership of the school system. SSA offers community-owned quality education to all children in such a manner for improving their human capabilities. SSA works is controlled by Director Public Instruction or Project Director. The academic wing of the SSA performs extensive in-service teacher training and research work. The SSA comprises 20 administrative Clusters that are allocated with 5 or 6. The cluster is headed by the head of the respective senior secondary school.

SSA manages elementary schools with the help of Panchayati Raj Institutions, School Management Committees, Village and Urban Slum Level Education Committees, Parents’ Teachers’ Associations, Mother Teacher Associations, Tribal Autonomous Councils and other grass root level structures.

Eligibility:

Age Criteria – Minimum age limit is 18 yrs and maximum age limit is 40 yrs.

Educational Qualification - Graduation + B.Ed in Special Education or 10+2 with 2 years post graduate Diploma in special education.
