The four famous institutions of Anna University are College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG), Alagappa College of Technology (ACT), Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), and School of Architecture and Planning (SAP). Anna University of Technology, established by the state government, controls more than 136 engineering colleges. This unitary technical university aims to provide a fresh momentum to research in the field of engineering. The university manages the Engineering colleges that are affiliated to it. The engineering colleges under this university are from Tindivanam, Villupuram, Arni and Kanchipuram.
