The M.Tech programme in soil mechanics and foundation engineering is a branch of civil engineering comprising of topics such as dynamic behavior of soils, how to identify problematic soils and the related problems, remedial techniques and design for the same.

Eligibility criteria

The admission for this particular course is based on the percentile score of the GATE or the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering Entrance Exam.  It is extremely beneficial if the student has a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. This is mainly a specialization course to upgrade the existing skills. There are a number of electives mainly in the third semester. The fourth semester mainly focuses on project work

It is a post graduate course comprising of 4 semesters. These four semesters are further divided into two semesters of course work and two semesters of project work.     a cylindrical mould of diameter 7.5cm contains a 15cm long sample of fine sand.when water flows through the soil under constant head at a rate of 58cc/min,the loss of head between two points 8cm apart is found to be 12.1cm. dete rmine the co-efficient of permeability of the soil.
