Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University was previously called as Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University and it was established with its previous name in the year 1964 on the 12th of June. The university was given its present name in the year 1996 on the 7th of November. As the name implies, the university is offering education in the faculty of agriculture and its allied disciplines. The university is covering faculties like agricultural engineering & technology, agriculture, home science and polytechnics under its educational system under the categories of UG, PG, Ph. The university admits students to the different UG courses other than B. Sc Home Science (Hons.) based on the performance of the students in the State Level Common Entrance Examination called as EAMCET conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh’s Higher Education Department. B. Sc (hons.) home science course is meant only for women candidates without any entrance examination. For PG course, admission is made on the basis of separate entrance examination for home science and agriculture. Of the total number of seats allotted for PG Courses, 25% of the seats are meant for students belonging to states other than Andhra Pradesh and these students are admitted through All India Entrance Examination conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
