The U P Board intermediate special English paper is one if the important paper for the intermediate students. The question paper is very scoring and knowing the pattern of the paper would be very helpful for the students to prepare for the exam. A good part of the paper is completely practice based so a good practice can lead to a good score.

The expected sections

To get an overview there are four sections in this paper they are prose section, poetry section, vocabulary section and grammar section.

The pattern and the number of questions

There are a total of twenty questions in this paper. The first eleven questions are from prose and poetry where each question is compulsory and should be written in 75 words. Then from question 12 to 14 is vocabulary and grammar section where the questions are to be answered as directed. This part may contain table matching, fill in the blanks, parts of speech, tenses etc. Then we have reading comprehension, summary writing, essay writing and letter writing.

The marks distribution

The maximum marks for this paper is 100. The questions from prose and poetry carry 4 marks each. The do as directed questions carry five marks each. The reading comprehension and summary writing is of 8 marks. The essay carries 10 marks and the letter writing carries 5 marks.

The time allocation

The total time allotted for this paper is 3 hours.
