Library of any institution is the store for the information and knowledge. Any educational organization can be judged by the level of its library. The course enables a candidate to learn to capitalize the human resources and manage the information and build good human resources and fulfill the variable demand.

Paper Pattern:

Questions asked in the paper of Information processing and retrieval is a subjective paper. Total questions asked are 5 and first 4 questions contain an alternative of it whereas last question is of short notes and 4 out of 6 are to be attempted. Questions asked are long answer type and every question containing several questions in it for the ease of students. Examples should be provided if needed in answering the paper.

Questions in the paper are of long answer and descriptive type. Questions such as current information retrieval system and its advantages and drawbacks, colon classification, different classification system, indexing system, what is bibliographic system?, short notes on Knowledge representation, Functions of search engines etc. are asked in the paper. Questions are to be answered within a suitable length; word limit for short notes is 250 words.

Total marks and time allotted:

Maximum marks which can be awarded in this paper are 100 and time allotted is 3 hours. The questions in the paper are of equal marks and each question carries 20 marks. Every short note is of 5 marks.
