University of Cochin came to existence in the year 1971 and it gained the status of Cochin University of Science and Technology in 1986 in order to provide the higher education in the state of Kerala. The University offers standard education techniques and good infrastructure facility to its students.

Paper Description:

Chemical Engineering I Paper is undertaken by the students appearing in the 3rd semester of B.E in Safety and Fire Engineering course under the Cochin University of Science and Technology. The paper gives perfect knowledge about the standard heat of reaction, basic laws of thermodynamics, different types of filters etc. The paper also provides information about entropy, enthalpy, different effect of reaction rate etc. The basic knowledge about different types of spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction are also included in this paper.

Paper Pattern:

The pattern followed by the University is almost same for every paper. Students have to attempt 5 questions in total. The paper consists of ten questions and all the questions are of same marks. The questions that are generally asked in this paper are theory and numerical based. Each question contains alternative options.

Frequently Asked Questions:

There are number of topics that are very important for the Chemical Engineering Paper I but the questions repeated in almost every year are first and second law of thermodynamics, Carnot refrigeration cycle, types of reactors etc. There is also few short notes type questions that are common every year like Short Notes on enthalpy, entropy, reaction rate, X-ray diffraction, NMR spectroscopy etc.

Full Marks and Time Allotted:

The paper is of 100 marks and the time allotted is three hours.
