Registrar/Resident Surgeon - Assam Public Service Commission
Year 1937 is an important year in the history of the state of Assam since it is during this year the Assam Public Service Commission was introduced by the Government of Assam. The commission is responsible for conducting recruitment for different government job positions in the state of Assam.
Recruitment by APSC:
Assam Public Service Commission has called for applications from eligible candidates for the position of Registrar/Resident Surgeon and the details regarding the notification issued by the commission of this position is given below
Name of the Vacancy: Registrar/Resident Surgeon
Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 48, which is divided among different department for which this position is going to be filled as follows:
• Orthopaedics including ICU/Emergency – 10 (OC-05, STP-01, SC-01, STH-01, OBC/MOBC-02)
• ENT – 03 (OC-02, OBC/MOBC-01)
• O & G – 21 (OC-12, STP – 02, STH – 01, OBC/MOBC – 06)
• Surgery (including ICU/Emergency) – 14 (OC – 07, STP - 01, STH – 01, SC – 01, OBC/MOBC – 04)
Pay Brand: Candidates will be appointed in the pay band of Rs.15600-39100 with Grade Pay of Rs.6000 per month plus other allowances admissible under rules.
Eligibility requirements:
Educational qualification: Educational qualification required for each of the department is given below:
• Orthopaedics including ICU/Emergency – MS in Orthopaedics
• ENT – MS in ENT
• O & G – MS in O & G
• Surgery (including ICU/Emergency) – MS in Surgery
Candidates, who have appeared for their final PG examination in the year 2011 and waiting for results can also apply, however, these candidates should furnish the PG passed certificate to the Secretary, Assam Public Service Commission immediately after publishing of results by the concerned university.
Age: Candidates must be between the age group of 21 and 38 years as on 1st of January 2011 and upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
Process of recruitment:
Recruitment shall be made based on the marks secured by the candidates in the qualifying examination and on the basis of their performance in the written test, which will be notified in due course.
Application fee:
Application fee should be paid in the form of original treasure challan for Rs.5 (Rs.2.5 for SC/ST candidates).

Candidates can get the application form from the Deputy Secretary, Assam Public Service Commission, Jawahar Nagar, Khanapara, Guwahati – 22 by sending a requisition letter clearly stating the name of the position and the department for which they are applying through a self-addressed unstamped envelope of 23×10cms. Application can also be obtained in person from the aforesaid address up to 4.00 pm during office hours except on Sundays and National Holidays. Even application can be downloaded from the website of APSC at can visit www.apsc.nic.in and duly completed application form must be submitted to the office of the commission before the 19th of November 2011.
