H.D. Jain College came into existence in the year 1942 on the 21st of January and the institution holds the pride of being the first institution for higher learning in the educationally and economically backward area of Shahabad and it is in fact the first institution for higher education between the cities of Patna and Varanasi. The college owes its foundation to the Late Babu Harprasad Das Jain, who was a rich philanthropist and landlord of the town.

Admission Procedure:

Admission of students to the regular courses offered by the college is done based on the merit secured by them in the higher secondary examination, while for self-financing courses, admission is done based on the performance of the candidates in the common entrance test conducted by the institution.

Facilities:

The college has a library with a collection of approximately 95000 books and the library has the capacity to accommodate 50 students at a time. The library is also subscribing for nearly 30000 journals. The computer centre in the college is provided with 10 PCs with broadband internet connection. Other facilities in the campus are sports facilities, gymnasium, auditorium and laboratories for different subjects. The campus also has a hostel for boys with a capacity to accommodate 100-125 students.
