Government Girls’ College otherwise called as Girls’ Degree College is one of the most prestigious institutions in the city of Ratlam and the institute is offering degree and PG courses with affiliation from the Vikarm University located in Ujjain. The institute came into existence in the year 1971 with the objective of offering higher education not only to girls belonging to the city of Ratlam, but also to tribal and rural girls of the region of Ratlam.

Library at the institution:

Government Girls’ College has a wide collection of nearly 36653 books of which 31153 are textbooks and 5000 are reference books. The books are classified by the institution under varied categories like Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Political Science, Economics, sociology, history, philosophy, drawing, home science, commerce, computer, chemistry, physics, mathematics, zoology, botany and music.

Cultural activities at the institution:

For ensuring the development of personality of the students, the institute organizes different cultural activities in such a way that the students might get a chance to show their talents to the world. These activities are divided by the institutions into two groups namely literary competitions and cultural competitions. Winners of these competitions are made to participate at inter collegiate competitions and they are also given the opportunity to represent the college at the Annual Youth Festival. Many students of the college has so far participated at the national-level, state-level and district-level competitions thereby bringing honors to the college in activities like spot painting, cartoon making, etc…
