Protection and switchgear paper is related to the Electrical engineering and especially electric circuits. The paper is an important part which gives an extra edge to the candidates who are doing engineering in electrical engineering. Paper is a compulsory subject in the field of electrical engineering and jobs opportunities are in good nos. Also, as the construction of buildings and complexes are increasing, safer switchgears and wiring system is becoming more important.

Paper Pattern:

The subject of Protection and switchgears is formed by 7 questions in the paper. From these total problems, only 5 problems are to be written in examination. All these problems are formed by 2-3 sub-problems. 1st question in this paper is necessary to be written. Rest 4 problems may be from remaining 6 problems in the paper. Each problem asked in the examination is of same marks.

Problems asked in the examination are such as overhead ground wires, earthling screen, advantages of metal oxide surge arrester, drawbacks of conventional arrester, construction of arrester, oscillations, natural frequency, numerical problems on frequency of a circuit breaker, RRRV of a system. Chopping phenomenon, typical protective functions, Peterson coil, making capacity, block diagram of typical protective relay which is based on microprocessor etc.

Marks and time:

Total marks in this examination which can be obtained in this are 100 and limitation of time is of 3 hours only.
