Under Graduate Courses in NIFD – Admission and Fee Details
B.Des and B.FTech are the undergraduate courses offered at National Institute of Fashion design (NIFD). Admission to these courses is given on the basis of entrance test conducted by NIFD. Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT) and Managerial Ability Test (MAT) are the main sections included under the written test. Selected candidates can pursue the course by paying Rs. 61,750/- per semester.

Admission for Under Graduate Courses in NIFD
Candidates who have completed 10 +2 course from any recognized institutions are eligible for admission. For admission to Bachelor of Fashion Technology in Apparel Production, candidate must possess the necessary qualification with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects.
Selection of candidates to under graduate courses in NIFD is done on the basis of a written test conducted by NIFD. Separate entrance exams are conducted for admission to B.Des courses and B.FTech in Apparel Production.
Entrance test for B.Des course comprises of three separate sections.
- General Ability Test (GAT)
- Creative Ability Test (CAT)
- Situation Test
In General Ability Test (GAT), candidate can expect questions from the following topics
- Communication Ability
- Analytical Ability
- Current Affairs
- English Comprehension
- General Knowledge
- Quantitative Ability
As the name implies, Creative Ability Test is meant to measure the creative skills of the candidate. The innovative skills, observation skills and design skills of the candidate are evaluated under the section.
Situation test is a practical test conducted to evaluate the innovative skills and the design ability of the candidate. Here candidate is provided with a set of materials and design situation based on that.
Entrance test for B.FTech course comprises of two sections.
- General Ability Test (GAT)
- Managerial Ability Test (MAT)
GAT test is common for aspirants seeking admission to B.Des and B.FTech. Pattern and syllabus for the section is same as that for B.Des. In Managerial Ability Test (MAT), one can expect questions from the following topics

- Logical Ability
During admission to B.Des courses, 40% weightage of marks is given for each of the sections of CAT and GAT. Rest of the 20% marks is offered on the basis of situation test. Admission to B.FTech course is done by giving 60% weightage for GAT score and 40% weightage for MAT score.

- Security Deposit: Rs. 5,000/-
- Alumni Association Membership Fee: Rs. 2,500/-
- Library Fee: Rs. 3,000/- per year
- Mediclaim & Student Development Fee: Rs. 1,250/- per year
- Total: Rs. 61,750/-
Above mentioned are the fee details for a single semester. Security Deposit is a one time fee that must be paid at the time of admission.
