Admission Procedure for MBA in Power Management
B.E/B.Tech graduates with 60% or above marks can apply. Apart from this, B.Sc graduates (PCM subject streams) who have scored at least 60% marks can also pursue MBA in Power Management. The admission process for this course differs with institute/University. In most cases, candidates need to qualify CAT (Common Admission Test) with a good score to have admission. Reputed institutes like IIMs and National Power Training Institute offers admission on the basis of CAT score.
In NTPI, other than CAT score, group discussion and personnel interview are conducted as part of selection process. 70% weightage is given for CAT score, 20% for GD and 10% for personnel interview.
University of Petroleum and Energy Studies conducts Management Entrance Test (UPES –MET) to select candidates for MBA degree. Candidates who clear this entrance exam should appear for group discussion and personal interview also.
After MBA (Power Management) candidates can apply for jobs in public sector organizations like National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Power Grid Corporation, IOCL and Damodar Valley Corporation. They can work with job positions like price analyst, Plant Manager, and energy dealer. The starting salary ranges between Rs 15, 000 – 25, 000/- per month.
