Procedure to join MCA in Delhi University
Bachelor degree holders in mathematical sciences can apply for Master of Computer Application in Delhi University. Admissions are done on the basis of Entrance Test and Interview conducted by the University. Questions from topics like Mathematical Ability, English Comprehension, and Logical Reasoning, are asked for entrance test.
Eligibility Criteria for MCA in Delhi University
Applicants should hold any bachelor degree (under semester mode) with at least two papers in Mathematical Sciences. Candidates obtained bachelor’s degree under annual mode must have studied at least one subject in mathematical sciences. Subjects in mathematical sciences can be any one of the following.
- Computer Science
- Mathematics
- Operational Research
- Statistics
Candidates should possess 60% aggregate marks in bachelor degree. Those who are attending the final year degree examination are also eligible to apply. No maximum age bar is fixed for the admissions of UG/PG courses in the university/colleges, except those courses for which MCI, AICTE have prescribed age limit.
Certain relaxation in required qualification is extended for OBC/SC/ST candidates. Mere pass in degree (in subjects mentioned above) is enough for SC/ST candidates, who have obtained the qualification from Delhi University. Those who have obtained graduation from any University other than Delhi University should have a minimum of 55% marks.
Admission Procedure for MCA in Delhi University
Admissions for MCA course in Delhi University are done on the basis of Entrance test and Interview. 80% weightage is given to entrance test and 20% weightage is given to interview. Entrance test consist of objective type questions from the following topics.
- Mathematical Ability
- Computer Science
- English Comprehension
- Logical Reasoning
Candidates should obtain a certain percentage of marks in each section to qualify. Other Backward Classes or OBC candidates are offered with relaxation in entrance test marks. If the minimum eligibility is fixed as 60% for general category students then OBC candidates should require 60% less 10% of 60% i.e. 54%. Anyway, OBC candidates should meet minimum eligibility marks in qualifying examination and entrance test in order to take admission.
Persons with different ability or PWD will get an extent of 5% relaxation for entrance test provided that those candidates have not less than 40% disability. Children or widows of Armed Forces Personnel (eligible CW) will get 5% concession in marks of qualifying examination.
Candidates applying for reserved categories need to submit proper certificates showing the benefit of reservation.
Applicants of general and OBC category should pay Rs.800/- as application fee. SC/ST and PH category students need to pay Rs.400/- only. Payments shall be made in the form of crossed Bank Draft drawn in favor of “Registrar, University of Delhi” payable at New Delhi.
