Among the well known universities of our country, one is Annamalai University. The University is also one of the largest residential universities not only in India but in Asia also. The founder of the University was visionary Dr. Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar of Chettinad, Kt, LL.D., D.Litt. He founded the University in the year 1929. Since then the University is making tremendous progress and is now a leading name in Academics. Annamalai University is spread over lush green 1000 acres with its hostels, playgrounds and colleges. The University has at present around 50 departments and the number of teaching staff is around 2500.

The University offers many courses in a number of streams. The courses include both undergraduate and postgraduate ones. One of the courses offered by the University is B.A. in English. The course is of duration of three years. In the third year of the course there is a paper on Shakespeare. This paper is a 100 marks paper with time duration of three hours. The paper has many choices as the students are required to answer only five questions out of the ten given. Each question carries 20 marks. The questions are set to cover the entire syllabus. The paper code is 720.
