The Annamalai University is one of the largest residential universities of Asia. The university was founded in the year 1929 by Dr. Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar of Chettinad, Kt, LL.D., and D.Litt. The university is progressively getting ahead in the academic arena and meeting all the standards which were desired by the founder. The university boasts of having 49 departments of various streams and more than 2500 teaching staff. The university is located at Annamalainagar. This town is located east of Chidambaram. The university along with its playgrounds, hostels and colleges covers an area of nearly 1000 acres.

The university offers many undergraduate and postgraduate courses. One such course is a degree course in Economics. The degree is Bachelor of Economics. The course is of duration of three years. There is a subject of rural development in the third year of the course. The pattern of the exam is given below.

The paper is of duration of three hours. The maximum marks are 100. There are 10 questions in the paper. Candidates are required to answer any five out of the ten. All the questions carry equal marks. Thus they are of 20 marks each. Questions cover the entire syllabus.
