B.M.S. College for Women was established in the year 1964 with 34 students to offer pre-university courses. Later in the year 1966, degree courses in science and arts faculties were introduced by the college and slowly several other courses were introduced. It is accredited with A grade status by the NAAC and affiliated to the University of Bangalore.

B.M.S. College for Women offer pre-university courses in the faculties of arts, science and commerce and the degree courses as mentioned below:

Placement Cell:

B.M.S. College introduced a placement cell in its campus in the year 1999 with the objective of offering useful suggestions and information to the students with respect to job opportunities and career plans. The cell arranges campus interviews in such a way that candidates with appropriate skill can find placement. Presentations and workshops are also organized by the cell in such a way that the students can develop their soft skills to face interviews, competitive examinations and group discussions with confidence.

Grievance Redressal Cell:

This cell was established with the objective of solving the problems if any faced by the students. Senior staff members head the cell and they maintain confidentiality about the complaints received from a student.
