The University is located in the Steel City of India (Bhilai) and was established in the year 2005. The university provides programmes at post graduate, degree and diploma levels. The university’s foundation stone was kept the Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The university’s courses are divided under various sections which are Ecology and environment, Humanities, Pharmacy, Architecture, Applied Sciences and humanities, Engineering and technology, and Management and Entrepreneurship.

The university has various affiliated colleges under it which include engineering colleges like CIT or Chhattisgarh Institute of technology, CSIT or Chhatrpati Shivaji Institute of technology, M.P. Christian college of Engineering and technology, GEC or Govt. Engineering College. The university also affiliates a college of pharmacy in India i.e. Apollo college of Pharmacy. Overall the university affiliates more than 50 engineering colleges in India and on Pharmacy College. The university also affiliates 22 polytechnics offering various courses.

The university conducts several other programmes like workshops, conferences, Seminars and short term training during the course time only. The university has conducted various such courses like National Workshop on redefining technical education in the context of Global, National levels, National Workshop on NANO technology, Seminar on Rural Development and many more.

The students are required to apply to the university through an application form which is available online on the university website or it can be obtained from the university by a written request. The enrollment fee is Rs. 60 and the enrollment fee for PhD/M. Arch. by research Students is Rs 500/-.

The institute takes care of students by conducting proper seminar sessions to increase their ability to communicate and present themselves through soft skill sessions. It also gives extra classes for the students who get admitted in the colleges late as the lateral entry students. The institute offers awards to its meritorious students keeping up the interests of the students.
