To join in Merchant navy after completing diploma in electrical engineering is not possible. You are not satisfying the needed educational qualification for joining in merchant navy.

The needed educational qualification for joining in merchant navy is candidate should have completed a degree such as B.E Marine/ B.E Nautical science/ M.E Marine engineering.

Direct entry to Merchant Navy is also possible as students to join in as Deck Cadets.

The qualification needed for Deck Cadet is completed 10+2 with P.C.M (Physics, Chemistry and Math) as compulsory subjects and should have scored minimum 50% in aggregate and 50% in English at 12th level.

No, diploma holders are not eligible for getting job in Merchant navy.

Eligibility criteria for Merchant Navy:

Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or nautical science or master's degree in marine engineering is required for applying for higher posts in Merchant Navy.

For deck cadets posts in Merchant navy, candidate must have done 10+2 from a recognized board with physics, chemistry, mathematics and english as compulsory subjects with at least 50% marks.
