Can I pursue part time B.tech in Mechanical engg. After diploma of 3 years in mechanical engg from ignou or any other equaleinet university Without giving entrance exam?

Diploma holders can join B.Tech the through lateral entry. In this scheme, one can join directly to second year of degree program.
Admission will be offered either on the basis of merit or entrance test.
Calicut University, Thapar University etc conducts entrance for selection process.

Lateral Entry Programme is being offered at universities and engineering colleges enabling students who have completed 3-year diploma in Engineering or B.Sc. degree or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks, and Mathematics as a compulsory subject in Class XII, to get admitted in the second year directly.

Here are the steps to get admission in B.Tech program after diploma in mechanical engineering:

1. Research the colleges or universities offering B.Tech programs in mechanical engineering through lateral entry admission.

2. Check the eligibility criteria for lateral entry admission. Typically, a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in the diploma program is required, but it may vary from college to college.

3. Check the admission process and important dates of the colleges or universities that you are interested in.

4. Apply for lateral entry admission through the official website of the college or university or offline mode as per the given instructions.

5. Attend the counseling process, if any, as per the schedule mentioned in the admission notification.

Procedure to get admission in BTech after having diploma in mechanical engineering:-

Diploma candidates can apply for Lateral Entry Entrance Test to get admission in Bachelor of Technology in desired stream.
LEET is state level complete exam for diploma candidates to get admission from diploma to degree, direct in second year of engineering.

The requirement to apply for LEET exam exam is that Candidate should have at least 60% marks in diploma from a recognised Institute.
