how can i enter btech mechanical in west bengal after completing my diploma in automobile.

u can do b.tech after diploma by giving jellet ,entrance exam.then u can get mech. engg. stream.

You must attend the entrance exam or directly taken the admission through management/NRI quota.The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board conducted the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) for admission into various undergraduate courses in Engineering / Technology / Medical / Dental / Veterinary and Pharmacy in Universities / Colleges in West Bengal and B. Arch Course in Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur and Jadavpur University. The applicant must be a citizen of India and should have passed the H.S. (10+2) or its equivalent examination. The general candidates must have to secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biological Sciences taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30% marks in English (for all categories).

you can take admission in B.Tech as an mechanical engineer, but it is better for you to take admission in B.Tech in automobile.

In West bengal only one college provide the course of automobile which is MCKV, Liluah.
But you have to pass the exam of WBJEE to admission in this college.

For Taking admission in B.Tech Mechanical after Diploma you have to give Lateral Entry Exam.

since you have done a diploma...ypu can enter a b.tech college through lateral entry scheme..you have to give west bengal joint entrance exam and there you have to mark lateral entry..do well in your exams and join an engineering college showing your diploma certificates...

since your branch is automobile you have to join automobile branch...so you have to search for a college which provides such a stream...and since you have your diploma certificate you will directly join 2nd year in b.tech..that is you will skip 1st year without any trouble...

if you have done your diploma in automobile and you want to b.tech in mechanical you have to give all india lateral entry exam and based on the rank you will get admission in the college........

definately, you can take admission in btech mechanical engineering in west bengal after diploma in automobile.

but to take admission in btech, you have to qualify JELET(joint entrance lateral entry test) exam.

I want to say those people have very weak concept who said you cant do degree in Mechanical Engg after completing diploma in Automobile Engg..
Automobile Engg is the sub set of Mechanical Engg.. & from any state you can do your degree in Mechanical Engg by given lateral entry test... Best of luck

There is no restriction for automobile diploma holders to lateral entry in mechanical engineering.
In some of the universities diploma in automobile are allowed to Electronics as well because there is no significant effect on your degree. The main engineering starts in 2nd year of Btech which you directly take through lateral entry.
If you continue the same branch after diploma by lateral entry to Btech then you find the syllabus much easier than normal entry scheme after 12th.
The automobile and mechanical syllabus are common upto 80 % or more so there is no problem taking admission in mech.
