Duration of CA course:
After 12th the minimum duration of CA course will be as follows-

CA foundation - 6 months
(from the date you register till the result)

CA intermediate - 12 months
(from the date you clear ca foundation till the result of ca intermediate)

ca final - 3 years
(3 years articleship and ca final exam)

The duration of CA course lies between 4 to 5 years.

CA is divided into three steps- CA Foundation which is entrance test to pursue CA Course, CA Intermediate and CA Final with 3 years of articleship training. One can pursue CA directly from CA Intermediate without giving entrance test i.e, CA Foundation. But this relaxation has only been given by ICAI in case of graduates or post graduates with specified passing percentage, those who cleared the Intermediate level of CS or CMA. There is no such requirement that you have to be a commerce student to pursue CA. even a medical student can also become a Chartered Accountant. If you start your CA Journey with entrance test i.e. CA Foundation, it will take 4.5 years (if you clear all exams in the first attempt) or if you start it through Direct Entry Route, it will take your 3 years after graduation.
