sir,my date of birth is 19/04/1992.this year (2012) i am not eligible for IES. i want to know that whether i am eligible next year (2013) or not??????

IES officers are recruited through Engineering Service Exam conducted by UPSC.

Eligibility:
1. BE/BTech in EC/EE/MECHANICAL/CIVIL branches from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.
2. Age limit: Minimum age-21 years & Maximum age:30 years.
3. Citizen of India.
4. Max no. of attempts allowed is 4.


Structure of exam:
It contains 5 papers (3 objective papers of 2 hours duration each + 2 descriptive papers of 3 hours duration each), out of which one objective paper with General Studies, 2more objective papers with Engineering and 2 descriptive papers with Engineering.

a. First day: General Studies + General English complete objective paper, for 200 marks
b. Second day: Paper I for 200 marks and Paper II for 200 marks of Objective type technical.
c. Third day: Paper I for 200 marks and Paper II for 200 marks of Descriptive type.
d. Personal Interview round contains another 200 marks.
e. So, total will be for 1000 marks for written and 200 marks for Personal Interview.

You must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination.
The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below:
upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate belongs to SC/ST.
upto a maximum of 3 years if the candidate belongs to Other Backward Classes(BC's)
You must complete your Graduation Degree(No restriction in Min.Percent)

Number of attempts::
- General candidates: four attempts.
- Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction.
- Other Backward Classes: seven attempts.

The eligibility criteria for IES Exam is as follows:

Age limits :

21-30 years on 1st August of the year of Examination. (Upper age limit relax able for SCs/Sts, OBCs and certain other categories).


Educational Qualifications :

A degree in Engineering from a recognised university or equivalent. M.Sc degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects also acceptable for certain Services/posts only.
Candidates appearing at their engineering degree or equivalent examination are also eligible to compete. Candidates qualifying on the result of the written part of the Examination will be required to submit the proof of passing the requisite examination along with their detailed application form to be filled up at that stage.

I am sorry to say that you are not eligible for IES entrance exam at an Age of 20 years because minimum Age required to appear in IES exam is 21 years.

IES exam is carried out by Union Public Service Commission once in year generally in the month of June. Engineering graduates who have already completed or who are in last year are eligible to appear in this exam. but last year students are required to produce the proof of passing engineering degree. To appear in this exam candidate Age should be within 21-30 years on the first day of august of the year of examination.

Eligible candidates may apply for this examination Online OR Offline. Candidates may also Obtained the application form Directly form the Post Offices in India. You can apply for this exam online through this link(upsconline.nic.in).
